The Communicable Disease Program provides for the prompt investigation of communicable diseases (food-borne illness, sexually transmitted disease). This investigation includes surveillance of unusual clusters of disease which may indicate a public health hazard.

Assistance is provided for those infected, to access appropriate medical treatment, complete the treatment regimen, and prevent the spread of disease to other.

TB testing and prevention:
Tuberculin (TB) skin testing and Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) is done to guarantee compliance of individuals with positive results to obtain medical treatment and maintain drug therapy as indicated.

TB testing is done every Monday between 2pm and 4pm on a walk-in basis. For Monday holidays please call the Health Department for an alternative date.

School Health:
Communicable disease staff work with School Nurses to monitor disease among staff and students, assist with appropriate response to disease clusters, provide up to date information on infectious diseases, and promote the prevention of disease transmission.
