What is Emergency Preparedness?
Emergency Preparedness is being ready for a disaster, or emergency. It is necessary to plan how to respond to various events and to regularly practice those plans. A well thought out plan can be used in events, such as natural disaster, disease outbreaks, and bioterrorism. A good plan can be used in almost any situation.

Everyone should do their part.
Even a small amount of preparation can make a huge difference in an emergency. The Health Department is doing its part by creating plans, practicing them, conducting training, and soliciting volunteers. There are simple basic steps residents can take to do their part.
