Emergency Response- Special Needs Citizens

Special needs citizens are a priority in Kendall County's emergency preparedness planning. The County's Health and Safety agencies are working collaboratively to develop comprehensive policies and procedures that will assist these citizens during a countywide emergency.

A special needs individual will have a physical, cognitive, and/ or sensory disability, and/ or medical needs that after exhausting all other resources (family, neighbors, public transportation, etc.) still need assistance before, during, and possibly after a disaster or emergency.

If you or someone you know, meets the above definition, you want to consider what kinds of social or healthcare networks will be available in an emergency situation. If you or a special needs family member is receiving care or services from a local agency you should consult with that provider about your care during an emergency. You should also consider registering with the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency for assistance during an emergency.
