Septic Systems- Homeowner

The Environmental Health Unit is committed to ensuring the safe and proper treatment and disposal of domestic wastewater (sewage) within the unsewered parts of Kendall County. The Unit's Private Sewage Disposal Program serves as the foundation of this effort. As part of this program, staff:

  • Perform plan reviews
  • Issue permits, and conduct inspections for the construction or repair of private onsite sewage disposal systems (OSDS).
  • Perform routine inspections of commercial septage pumping and hauling vehicles and related land application sites
  • Conduct comprehensive plat reviews of proposed residential developments
  • Perform investigations of wastewater related issues and illness

Additionally, staff may be secured for a fee to conduct an inspection of existing private onsite sewage disposal systems as part of a Property Transation Inspection.
