Crisis/ Suicide Prevention and Intervention

Kendall County Health Department delivers crisis and suicide intervention services designed for comprehensive prevention, intervention, and post-intervention.

Service goals include the assessment and immediate stabilization of acute symptoms of mental illness, alcohol and other drug abuse, emotional distress, and symptoms resulting from domestic violence, abuse, or neglect.

Crisis intervention services:

  • are available in English and Spanish. Translation and interpretation is also available through the Language Line
  • are available on any county campus during normal business hours and 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the emergency crisis line, (630) 553-6314
  • are designed to interrupt a crisis experience and provide relief of phychiatric distress. This is done through assessment, counseling, and the client's ability to use own strengths and social supports to experience relief from the crisis episode.
